Looking for a Gift for the Child in Your Life?

Here are my favorite children's Bibles and why I like them..........
  • My First Study Bible - (Babies to 6) I like the fact that all of the books of the Bible are listed in order with a synopsis of each. The Bible stories are placed within the book of the Bible where they are found. Helps adults and children learn the books of the Bible and the chronology of the Bible. There are discussion questions at the end of each story for parents to use. Great to read aloud to a preschooler - also great for a beginning reader to read.
  • The Big Picture Story Bible - (Babies to 6) Great read aloud book or fun for Early Readers to read. Through stories and beautiful pictures the reader sees how all of the Bible points to Jesus.
  • The Jesus Storybook Bible - (K-3rd) "Every Story Whispers His Name" is the tag line to this book of Bible Stories. Every story points to the Gospel.
  • Children's ESV Bible - (Elementary) The ESV Bible with pictures! The last 100 pages are study helps.......... amazingly the authors explain a lot of theology on an Elementary level. Adults and Children will learn what they believe and why with these study pages.
  • ESV Family Bible - (Elementary) This is a collection of 270 Bible Stories. The cool thing is that the narrative is the actual ESV version of the story. So 270 Bible passages with beautiful pictures.
  • ESV Seek and Find Bible - (5 - 9years) This is the complete ESV Bible with stories inset in the scripture. The pictures are great! There are discussion questions at the end of each story. Great read aloud for older preschoolers and early Elementary. Great for early readers to read independently.

Hope this helps if you are in search of one for the perfect gift! Please let me know if you know of one I missed.

You Have A Partner In Us

Parents at Clear Creek Community Church.......... did you know that you have a partner in your parenting?? The most important aspect of parenting our children is to disciple them - help them to know and love God, and to grow more like Christ. Here at Clear Creek Community Church, we want to partner with you as you disciple your children.

So how are we doing? Please reply to this post and let us know.

Do you feel like you have a partner?
Are our take home devotional activities helpful?
Do you feel like you know what your child is learning on Sunday Morning with us?
What else can we do to partner with you?

We want to partner - so help us be the best partner we can with you.

Pray first

Colosians 4:2-6
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison - that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

As I was reading this passage today I was reminded:
  • to pray for people. Especially people far from God. Pray that they hear and understand the mystery of the gospel
  • to be wise with my time.
  • to let my speech be gracious.

If I would pray first.................I will be using my time wisely..............and .............I'll speak graciously. Sounds easy enough.

I want kids and parents and friends and co-workers to hear God when I speak and not me. I don't want to waste their time with my foolish words............I just want to speak the gospel.

Thats my prayer........................

I am blessed............

I turned 50 this month! Crazy! I don't feel old - but that sounds really old!!

I turned 50 this month - and I am blessed........
  • God loves me
  • I'm married to a wonderful man
  • I have 4 great children
  • I get to do what I love to do at work every day

And the list goes on and on.......... But today as I was reading and praying, I realized that my greatest gift/blessing is something I take for granted.............Jesus died for my sins. How amazing is that and yet I don't ponder it daily and thank Him daily and share that blessing with others daily. I take it for granted.

How weird..........I'm a sinner in need of a savior, and yet I take for granted that I have a savior in God's only son...........

Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
